In her early years, she also worked at the Farm Bureau, then at various businesses in the Marysville area, but most notably she worked many of her later years at Weiss's.

Nellie enjoyed attending services at Diamond Hill Cathedral in Mansfield with her nieces when she was able, where she was affectionately known as “Aunt Nellie” to everyone. She liked doing arts and crafts and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Memorial Health Auxiliary TWIG 4.

Born November 26, 1922 in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Henrietta (Feyh) Scothorn. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl B. Smith whom she married July 28, 1951 in Greenfield, IN and he preceded her in death on January 16, 1982; a son, Robert “Bobby” Ulrey; a brother, John Scothorn and a sister, Betty Foltz.

She is survived by her nieces, Donna Foltz of Columbus, Sharon (Les) Walls of The Villages, FL, Linda Myer of Columbus, Carolyn (Lee) Norton of Powell and Brenda Myer of Columbus.
