Regeta Marie Vogel Scheiderer, 93, of Marysville, died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Brookdale Marysville following a brief illness.
A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, Regeta was a hard working homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed raising flowers and vegetables, baking cookies and pies, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was baptized on August 31, 1924 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jacob, IL and was confirmed there on April 10, 1938. A woman of strong faith, she was a dedicated member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church since coming to Marysville in 1954 where she also taught Sunday school for many years.
Regeta was a 1943 graduate of Gorham Community High School in Gorham, IL. In 1955 she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. She taught first through fourth grades at St. John’s Evangelical School from 1954-1959.
Born August 9, 1924 in Jacob, IL, she was the daughter of the late Gustav and Eleanore (Reinkensmeyer) Vogel. On July 11, 1959 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jacob, IL, she married her husband of nearly 50 years, Herbert Christopher Scheiderer and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2009. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Vincent Gustav Vogel on October 28, 1974 and Charles Frederick Vogel on September 11, 1997; a sister, Adeline Bock on November 7, 2016 and a brother-in-law, Ernest Bock in 1988.
She is survived by a son, Donald W. Scheiderer of Kentucky; a daughter, Marianne (Thomas D.) Sievers of Marysville; grandchildren, Marshall W. Scheiderer of Cincinnati and Rachel N. Sievers of Marysville; sisters, Lenora Vogel of Jacob, IL and Juanita (Raymond) Hollmann of Fairview Heights, IL; a brother, Harold (Ernestine) Vogel of Atlanta, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Reverend Jacob D. Heino will officiate and burial will take place next to her husband in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Monday at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
