Avonel Guy Avonel Guy, age 91, of Marysville died Friday, May 4, 2012, at Carriage Court of Marysville. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Avonel and her husband, Carroll, opened their home and hearts to 49 foster children over a twenty year period. She was a 1938 graduate of New Dover High School and was a longtime member of Pharisburg United Methodist Church. Her happiest moments came when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was born July 4, 1920, in Dover Township to the late Glenn and Gladys Gamble Kirby. She married Carroll Edwin Guy on June 2, 1939, at the Springdale Baptist Church Parsonage, and he preceded her in death on June 28, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Geyer, a granddaughter, Lisa Stowers, and a grandson, Brian Geyer. Survivors include her four daughters, Carolyn (Daniel) Stowers, Lewis Center; Evelyn Geyer and her fiancé©, James Osborn, Marysville; Jane (James) Garrett, Plain City; and Jody Guy, Marysville; 6 grandchildren, David (Rebecca) Stowers, Amy (Tom) Pitzen, Sarah Jane (Kyle) Chapman, Emily Garrett, Allen (Jaime) Geyer, and Kellie (Guy) Woods; 8 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gene (Barb) Kirby, New Dover. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Mannasmith Funeral Home, Marysville, where the funeral will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Stephen Waltman will officiate and burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery.
