Barbara Bootes

January 10, 1928 — August 19, 2018

Barbara B. (Brazelton) Buchheit Bootes, 90, of Marysville and formerly of Columbus, died peacefully Sunday morning at Brookdale of Marysville. A woman of strong faith, she was a dedicated member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Columbus where she sang in the choir and directed the children's choir along with various other activities. She enjoyed art, listening to music, singing and traveling but most of all she loved her time spent with her family. A devoted wife and loving mother, she was a wonderful homemaker. She was active with the PTA, serving as president and was president of the Lincoln Village Garden Club. As the children grew, she needed another challenge so she went back to school and became an LPN. She first worked for an Ear, Nose and Throat office and later went to work for Ophthalmologist, Dr. Fredrick M. Kapetansky, MD, a Glaucoma related specialist in Columbus from where she eventually retired. Born January 10, 1928 in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Ethel (Chambers) Brazelton. On March 26, 1978 in Columbus, she married Donald E. Bootes and he preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sons, Robert A. Buchheit and Cheny F. Kohen; a great grandson, Duncan McAdow; a sister, Beverly Spung and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Buchheit. Her step daughter-in-law, Judy Bootes, passed away just 11 days after her. She is survived by a son, John C. Buchheit of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Patricia (Douglas) McAdow of Marysville; stepson, Donald C. Bootes of Lady Lake, FL; daughter-in-law, Catherine Kohen Zippay of Lauderdale-By-the-Sea, FL; grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) McAdow, Nicholas (Bethany) McAdow, Beau (Kristina) Buchheit and Alan (fiancé, Heather Barlanti) Buchheit; step-grandchildren, Jill (John) Ghosn, Kevin (Melissa) Bootes and Wendy (James) Large; 10 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren; a great great grandchild and her church family which she loved dearly.
