Bertha M. Stalling, 87, of West Mansfield and formerly of Newark, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus. Born August 4, 1928 in Newark, she was the daughter of the late Jason and Daisy (Andrews) Grigsby. On June 11, 1945 she married Clifford E. Stalling, Sr. and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1978. She was also preceded in death by a son, Clifford E. "Skip" Stalling, Jr., 4 sisters and 3 brothers. A loving mother, she is survived by her sons, Michael (Peggy) Stalling of West Mansfield, Tim (Cindy) Stalling of East Liberty and Darren Stalling of Bellefontaine; her sisters, Alice Kidwell and Betty Stemm both of Newark; a brother, Arthur Grigsby of Newark; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A woman of strong faith, she was formerly a two term Mayor of West Mansfield, she also served on the West Mansfield City Council where she also served as President, was produce manager with Garvin's IGA and Field's Grocery Store, and lastly worked in the jewelry department at Wal-Mart in Bellefontaine, working till she was 80. Bertha loved watching CNN and staying up to date on current events, watching the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, faithfully tuning in on Sunday evenings to watch Joel Osteen, giving cards for any occasion, and supporting the Veterans, but most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home 222 West Center St, West Mansfield, Oh. Pastor Max Jackson will officiate and burial will follow at the Bellefontaine Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
