Betty J. Hughes Betty J. Hughes, age 92, of Rushsylvania died Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Logan Acres Care Center with her husband and family at her side following an extended illness. She was a First Grade school teacher for many years with Rushsylvania, Buckeye Local, and Benjamin Logan School districts. She graduated from Rushsylvania High School in 1937 and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Ohio Northern University. Betty was an active lifetime member of Rushsylvania United Methodist Church and was a longtime supporter of Logan County Weekday Religious Education. She was born December 27, 1919, in Rushsylvania to the late John Z. and Iva Kilgore Pugh. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Jenkins, a sister, Donna Fry, and a brother, Lowell Pugh. Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Clayton Hughes, to whom she was married on June 12, 1937; her daughter, Connie Jenkins, West Mansfield; her son, Joe (Linda) Hughes, Bellefontaine; 6 granddaughters; 8 great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen (Carl) Culp, Rushsylvania; several nieces and nephews; and her church family. Services will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at the Rushsylvania United Methodist Church. Reverend Gene Phelps will officiate and burial will take place at Rushsylvania Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Logan County Weekday Religious Education, PO Box 245, Bellefontaine, OH 43311 or the Rushsylvania United Methodist Women, 152 Rush St., Rushsylvania, OH 43347.
