Carol Anne Renner, 89, of Marysville, died peacefully Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Brookdale of Marysville. An avid reader, she enjoyed crafts of any kind. Her family was of the utmost importance to her and cherished the time she spent with them. Also very dear to her over the years were the many students she had the privilege of teaching. She graduated from Mt. Zion High School near Bucyrus and while there, proudly did her part during WWII by working at GE in the evenings. She went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Capital University. She was one of the first female athletes ever to compete at Capital, earning letters in basketball, softball and field hockey. She later earned her Master's Degree from Ohio Northern University and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. An educator all her life, she taught at St. John's School from 1951-1953, the Byhalia-York Schools, Hardin-Northern Schools and the Hardin County Schools. Born October 12, 1928 in Bucyrus, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Callie (Jacobs) Fritz. On June 4, 1950 at the Martin Luther Church outside Bucyrus, she married her husband of 56 years, Charles E. Renner and he preceded her in death on September 5, 2006. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, George Fritz; her brothers-in law, Victor (Margaret) Renner and Arno Renner and sisters-in-law, Alvena Renner and Erna (Donald, Sr.) Bailey. Surviving are her children, Charles (Jennifer) Renner of Forest and Suzanne (Graham) Matthews of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Peter (Lauren) Renner, John Renner, Joel (Julie) Renner, Mark (Dana) Renner, Leah Renner and Aubrae Wilson; a great grandson, Luke Renner; a brother, James Fritz of Fremont, a sister, Sharon (Doug) Ritze of The Woodlands, TX and a sister-in-law, Colleen Fritz of Bucyrus along with several niece, nephews, friends and former students. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Reverend Jacob Heino and her grandson, Mark Renner will officiate and burial will follow at the church cemetery next to her husband.
