Charlene Lael Atkinson

Charlene Lael Atkinson, née Predmore, formerly of West Mansfield, passed away peacefully on her 93rd birthday, July 2, 2026, at St. John's Medical Center in Westlake. Born in West Mansfield on July 2, 1933, Charlene graced this world with kindness, strength, and enduring sense of dignity—attributes that she carried with grace throughout her life.

Charlene’s early years were rooted in her hometown, where she was a proud member of the West Mansfield High School class of 1951. Following her high school graduation, she continued her educational journey at Kent State University, laying the foundation for a life marked by learning and personal growth.

A devoted wife to her beloved husband of 74 years, Duane Atkinson, Charlene was the cornerstone of her family—cherished as a loving mother and grandmother above all. As an impeccable homemaker, she created a warm and nurturing home, always welcoming family and friends alike. Her gentle spirit was felt in every room she brightened, and those who knew her remember her as a true lady, embodying kindness and grace in all that she did.

Charlene’s legacy lives on through her devoted family. She is survived by her husband Duane, whom she married December 30, 1951, in West Mansfield; a son, Ron (Nancy) Atkinson of Austin, TX, a daughter, Denise (Mark) Oswald of Rocky River; her grandchildren, Karie (Justin) Bledsoe, Zac (Becca) Atkinson of Round Rock, TX, Ange Atkinson of Monterey, CA, and Jackson Oswald of Rocky River; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Liam, and Grace Bledsoe, and Samantha and Ben Atkinson; a sister-in-law, Cherie Predmore; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Blanche (Brookens) Predmore; her father and mother-in-law, Luther and Zula Atkinson; her brothers, Charles and Leland Predmore; her sisters, Eunice (CM) Goings, Phyllis Predmore, and Ardythe Predmore; as well as her sister-in-law, Dolores (Richard) Pettit.

Those who were blessed to know Charlene will remember her not only for her devotion to her family, but also for the lasting legacy of dignity, grace, and kindness that defined her 93 remarkable years.
