Charles Jamond "Charlie" Stanford Charles Jamond "Charlie" Stanford, 86, of Bellefontaine and formerly of Rushsylvania, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at Mary Rutan Hospital. Born June 24, 1928 in Logan County to the late Albert and Viola (Snyder) Stanford, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean (Lee) Stanford on April 9, 1994; a sister, Minnie Jane Stanford-Givens-Jeffries and a stepson, James "Jimmy" McCreary. Charles is survived by his second wife, Virginia (Forsythe) Stanford, whom he married October 7, 1995 in Pickrelltown; a sister, Evelyn (Stanford) Givens; a brother, Dick (Pat) Stanford; his sons, Chuck (Carol) Stanford, Ron (Katie) Stanford, Dan (Sue) Stanford and John (Tami) Stanford; stepchildren, Joyce (Dan) Bushong, Jeff, Joe (Vera), and John (Lori) McCreary; 17 grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friend, Calvin Deckard. A 1946 Graduate of Rushsylvania High School, Charlie went to work right out of high school at A.J. Miller Company until 1951. In 1951, he went to work as a crane operator with Knowlton Construction where he would work for the next 38 years, traveling all over the state of Ohio and working at all of the state universities before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Monroe Community Church and the Rushsylvania Church of Christ. Known for his humor, he loved restoring "old" cars, especially his 1936 Ford truck, music, square dancing and working crossword puzzles, but most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, 222 West Center St., West Mansfield, Ohio 43358 with Reverend Tim Sherer officiating. Burial will follow at the Rushsylvania Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 5-8 P.M. on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Monroe Community Church or the Rushsylvania Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
