Christine Marie Moder, 72, affectionately known as Chris, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2025, at Bluebird of Marysville, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 23, 1952, in Englewood, New Jersey, Chris was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout her life.
Chris dedicated 32 years of her professional life as the administrative assistant to the Mayor for the City of Marysville. Her commitment and service to the community exemplified her deep love for her hometown and her unwavering desire to make a difference. A proud graduate of Marysville High School, she furthered her education at The Ohio State University and Ohio University, demonstrating her passion for learning and growth.
More than just her career, Chris was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Jerry Moder, whom she married April 15, 1978 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. The two cherished their time together, creating a lifetime of memories that spanned from their tranquil summers spent boating at Lake Erie to the joyful gatherings they held during the Christmas season. Chris had a unique way of bringing people together, hosting family celebrations where her outstanding cooking always took center stage. Her love for the Christmas season was unmatched, as she turned her home into a festive wonderland with decorations that were second to none.
Chris was a loving sister, aunt, and friend who brought joy and laughter to all those around her. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Moder; her brothers, Ned (Rebecca) Cantu of Albany and Bryan (Kara) Cantu of Grove City; and her sister, Jeanne Cantu of Chicago, IL. Chris is also survived by her mother-in-law, Zema Moder and her brother-in-law, Ken (Gail) Moder, along with numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Chris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. "Jack" and Mary E. (Ryan) Cantu; her brother, Peter A. Cantu; and her father-in-law, Paul Moder.
Chris's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her—a devoted wife, a caring family member, and a friend who radiated warmth and light.
