David L. Orahood David L. Orahood, age 55, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at his home. David formerly worked in construction and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the West Mansfield Church of Christ and the West Mansfield Conservation Club and was a former Boy Scout and Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and had especially enjoyed working with his team of Percheron draft horses. He was born May 1, 1956, in Kenton to Jack Orahood and Mildred Smith Keester. His father survives in West Mansfield, and his mother survives in Chandlersville. David made his home with his aunt and uncle, Goldie & Bud Garwood, around age 12 and lived with them until he entered the Army. He married Marilyn Toy Mathys Herbert on September 12, 1991, and she preceded him in death on May 12, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his uncle, Bud Garwood, and several other aunts and uncles. Along with his parents, survivors include his children, Josh (Cori) Orahood and Jessie Orahood, each of West Mansfield; and Jason (Sara) Orahood, St. John's; 5 granddaughters; his sister, Lisa (Will) Cisco, Cable; 5 aunts, Goldie Garwood, of West Mansfield; Lela (Greydon "Sam") Hone, Bellefontaine; Sondra (Joe) Slavin, DeGraff; Bonnie (Bob) Styer, Reynoldsburg; and Martha (Kenneth) Kearns, Belle Center. Pastor Willis Moe will officiate the funeral service on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, West Mansfield, and burial will follow at East Liberty Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Mansfield Church of Christ. Condolences may be expressed at www.mannasmithfunerarlhome.com.
