Ernest Sharp, Sr

November 16, 1932 — February 4, 2015

Ernest Lee Sharp, Sr. Ernest Lee Sharp, Sr., 82, went to be with his Lord on February 4, 2015 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. Ernie was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and could "arm chair" coach with the best of them. He, Elsie and anyone who came to visit worked on puzzles. The night before he left, he finished a puzzle and it will be framed. He loved sitting in front of the garage feeding the birds and goats and visiting with friends, family and neighbors who stopped by. Ernie retired from the United Telephone Company after nearly 30 years working as a cable splicer. Born November 16, 1932 in East Liberty, he was the son of the late Victor (Martha) Sharp and Clariot (Willis) Wilgus. On September 7, 1950, he married the love of his life, Elsie Jane (Martindale) and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Barbara Sharp, Connie Baughman, Bonnie (John) Brose, April McCreary, Ernie Sharp, Jr, Kim Sharp, Susie (Bruce) McCoy, David Sharp, Paula (Morgan) Mathys and Ronnie (Christina) Sharp; 31 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home 222 West Center St. West Mansfield, OH 43358 with Micah Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at the East Liberty Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. John Michael Baughman, Dave Sharp, Ernest Sharp III, Kenny Sharp, Kyle Sharp and Kory Sharp will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
