Eva Hamilton

February 7, 1919 — April 19, 2015

Eva L. Hamilton (Glassburn), 96, of Marysville, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Memorial Hospital. Born 1919 in Nitro, WV to Jesse B. and Anna (Schneider) Glassburn. Eva was a graduate of Allen Center class of 1937. She also stayed true to her York High school reunions. She attended God's Child College in Cincinnati, Oh. On March 16, 1941 she wed George Hamilton of Byhalia. She worked at Ohio Wesleyan, Methodist Children's Home and retired from OSU where she was secretary to the dean of discipline. She was a member of the Delaware Chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Club for which she served two years as president and was a member of the Delaware Chapter of the National Secretary's Association. After retiring, she and George spent 24 winters in Harlington, Texas until his death in 2003. While in Harlington, they were proud to be associated with the HOST Program, "Help A Student Succeed." She found great enjoyment in reading and was most content when surrounded by her family. Survivors include 5 generations with son, Lowell (Mary) of Orient, grandsons, Guy (Sidney) and Scott (Sue) of E. Carondelet, IL, granddaughters, Angela of Obetz, Tami (George) and Michelle (Mike) of Orient, many great and great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Shirley Grose of West Mansfield, numerous nieces and nephews, a close friend and caregiver, Judy Tuel and dear friend, Carrol McIntosh. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Hamilton; sisters, Wanda Longshore and Audrey Glassburn; brothers, Elmer, Garland and Rev. Owen Glassburn and former daughter-in-law, Judy Dopmeyer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 24, 2015 at Mannasmith Funeral Home with Reverend Kristie Payne officiating. Burial will follow at York Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Eva's memory to the Union County Meals on Wheels Program.
