Gary J. Lane

Gary James Lane, 82, formerly of West Mansfield, passed away February 3, 2026, in Zephyrhills, FL, where he resided with his wife of 26 years, Cathy.

Born August 4, 1943, in Kenton, he was the son of the late Roy and Hazel (Bechtel) Lane.

A 1961 graduate of West Mansfield High School, he also attended DeVry University. went on to serve his country in the United States Army and was a proud dairy farmer. He formerly attended the West Mansfield United Methodist Church and was also a member of the West Mansfield Conversation Club, serving one term as president.

A proud grandfather, he loved watching his grandsons play hockey. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing cards.

In addition to his wife, Gary is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Lewis, Kristie Smith and Michelle Conley; a son, David "Shady" Lane; and grandchildren, Karly and Spencer.

A memorial service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the West Mansfield Methodist Church. Pastor Tim Burden will officiate, and Military Honors will be conducted by the Logan County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Inurnment will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contribution can be made to the Union County Humane Society.
