December 3, 1933 — March 16, 2016

Gerald Dean Trees, 82, of Marysville died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family. He retired in 1998 after 24 ½ years as a machinist with OM Scotts. He was a member of the Christian Assembly Church and Scotts 20 Year Club. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Post #79. Gerald was a Scoutmaster and coached Little League Baseball in New Dover. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, spending time at the family's trailer at Indian Lake, tinkering with things in his garage and loved to watch NASCAR races, having raced stock cars in his youth. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and the family dogs, Sam, Penny, Heidi and Tiny. He was born December 3, 1933 in New Dover to the late Cecil Clark and Lottie Marie Stiner Trees. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don; father-in-law, Roger Rude and daughter-in-law, Shelly. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Kathleen "Kathy" (Dotson), to whom he was married on October 12, 1959; 2 sons, Gerald (Wilma) Trees, Jr. of Raymond; Warren Clark Trees of Bellefontaine; a daughter, Kristy (Larry) Wellington of East Liberty; 4 grandchildren; Arron Kyle (Tiffany) Trees, Chad Mycal Trees, Todd Owyn Trees and Piper Marie Wellington; 3 great grandchildren, Hayden, Miley and Madisyn; mother-in-law, Mary Rude of Bellefontaine; brothers-in-law, Roger (Bernie) Rude of Bellefontaine and Harold (Sue) Rude of Stow, MA; sisters-in-law, Carolena Trees of Marysville, Ruby Diann (John) Perkins of Raymond, Rebecca Rude of Lawrenceville, GA and Pamela Sherrets of Pikeville, TN. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Mannasmith Funeral Home. Reverend Donald Moceri will officiate and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by the Union County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Funeral Home.
