Born November 1, 1927 on the family homestead in Logan County near Zanesfield, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Mary E (Marmon) Waltzer. On June 12, 1948 in Zanesfield, he married his wife of over 68 years, Alice M. (Titus) and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2017.In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Waltzer; sisters, Ethel Jackson and Ida Henry; brothers-in law, Gordon Wyandt, Robert Jackson, Dewey Ford, Bill Bialecki, Jim Copp and Paul Ramsey.
A devoted and loving husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa, Herman was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War, serving in Co D 44th Tank Batallion on "Operation Cleanup." He and Alice were dedicated volunteers for the Friends Disaster Relief Organization which carried them all over the country helping those in need after natural disasters. In his spare time, he enjoyed cabinet making, putting puzzles together, mowing the yard, having tea parties and playing ball with his great grandkids.
