James R. Blaha, Sr. 83, of Marysville, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus surrounded by his family after a hard fought, courageous battle with cancer, giving everything he had till the very end.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, James loved spending time with his family, especially watching cartoons with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed painting, drawing and woodworking. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to the ocean, had quite a collection of toys and other collectibles and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Born January 23, 1939 in Columbus, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Shimp) Blaha. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Williamson.
On February 13, 1965 in Columbus, he married his wife of over 57 years, Joyce (Martin) Blaha, and she survives in Marysville. He is also survived by son, James (Debbie) Blaha, Jr of Marysville; a daughter, Tracy Konopka of Marysville; grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) Doss, Danielle (Rob) Howard, Michael Bivens, Brooklyn Konopka, Peyton Konopka, Alexandra (Lainy) Benner, Nathan Williamson, Seneca (fiancé, Kaelib James) Blaha, Areca Blaha, Jennifer (Zach) McKenzie, and Joe (fiancé, Danielle Breidenbach) Rawlings; along with 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 10, 2022 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Ed Beeson will officiate and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Union County Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
