Janet J. Peoples-Johns, 81, of Marysville, passed away Friday, November 13, 2020 at Memorial Gables.
A devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, Janet was the consummate caregiver for her family. She selflessly took care of her husbands and daughter when they became ill. She continued that care by taking care of the cemetery plots, always making sure to pull the weeds and keep them looking nice. She loved spending time with her family and attending the sporting events of her grandchildren, taking them Christmas shopping and letting them help decorate the Christmas tree. She also enjoyed going out for coffee with friends and family.
She worked as a dispatcher for the Ohio State Patrol and then the Marysville Police Department retiring after over 20 years of service. She loved attending the Marysville First United Methodist Church where she was formerly an active member and completed the Emmaus Walk twice.
Born February 20, 1939 in Point Pleasant, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Joy (Gowin) Nowlin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Ronnie Peoples and Paul Johns; a daughter, Joy Gay McNeal; a son, Jerry Lee McNeal; her sisters, Joyce Taylor and Janice Mitchell and a brother, Charles Nowlin.
Janet is survived by her son, Charlie (Suzanne) McNeal of Marysville; grandsons, Christopher (Jamie) McNeal and Tyler (Sarah) McNeal, great granddaughters, Quinn and Rowan along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-7 PM Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel where masks will be required and social distancing will be encouraged. Pastor Tonya Brittain will officiate graveside services at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Oakdale Cemetery. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 12:15 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Marysville First United Methodist Church or Loving Care Hospice in care of the funeral home.
