John A. Bray

John A. Bray, 69, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, June 6, 2026, following several months of failing health. Born on April 22, 1957, John lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a deep love for his family and the simple pleasures of rural life.

A 1975 graduate of Benjamin Logan High School, John embarked on a career as a heavy equipment operator with TRC, where he worked faithfully for 32 years. His skill and commitment to his work left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his professional life, John was known for his willingness to lend a hand to local farmers, assisting them with various tasks and demonstrating his unyielding connection to the farming community.

John’s passions extended well beyond his occupation. He cherished his time spent with his grandsons and found joy in cutting firewood and driving tractors. As an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, he “lovingly” passed on his enthusiasm for the team to future generations, creating a bond that extended through shared moments of "sport and celebration."

He is survived by his wife, Cherie (Judd) Bray; a son, Joshua (Rachael) Bray of East Liberty; a daughter, Erin Bray of East Liberty; stepdaughter, Melissa (Richard) Reynolds of Rushsylvania; grandsons, Jaiden, Carter, and Aeron; step-grandchildren, Gage and Denae; several step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry (Jamie) Bray of East Liberty and William Bray of West Mansfield, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. and Dottie J. (Cobb) Bray, and his sister Lori Adelsberger.

Among his proudest accomplishments was his membership in the East Liberty Lodge #247 F&AM, reflecting his dedication to community involvement and fraternal bonds.
