John E. Potts

John E. Potts, 77, of Marysville and formerly of West Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at his residence. He was born on September 13, 1949, in Kenton, Ohio.

A 1967 graduate of Buckeye Local High School, John went on to serve his country with pride in the United States Navy. He served nearly five years, including two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Ranger. Following his military service, he built a long and steady career at Goodyear Industrial Products in Marysville, where he worked as an electrician in the maintenance department for 38 years before retiring. He later continued working for five years as a cashier at Kroger.

John was a man of commitment to both his family and his community. A loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, he especially loved being involved in his children’s sports and activities. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, a pastime that brought him happiness over the years. His life reflected service and connection, and he was active in many organizations that were important to him. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post #3320 in Marysville, American Legion Post #603, and the Lion’s Club in West Mansfield. He was also part of the Goodyear Retirees and the United Steelworkers Union Local 843L, and he formerly served on the Marysville Civil Service Commission.

John will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his son, Kyle (Heather) Potts of Dallas, TX, and his daughter, Christina (Josh) Turner of Glasgow, KY; his grandchildren, Lauren, Gavin, and Gabriel Potts and Sarah and Leah Turner; his sister, Janie Mohler of Newark; his niece, Tricia McPherson of Newark; and his nephew, Opey (Angie) Potts of Belle Center. They, along with all who knew him, will remember his steady presence, his sense of humor, his devotion to family, and the care he gave to those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Carroll and Eleanor (Dunaway) Potts; and his brother, David Potts.

Services to celebrate John's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 311 E. 6th St. Marysville. Pastor Angie Storer will officiate and burial will follow at the York Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by the Union County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 9, 2026, and also prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to ViaQuest Hospice or Memorial Mobile Meals, envelopes will be available at the church.
