Larry Wayne Marshall, Sr., 79, of Raymond, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Memorial Hospital, following several months of failing health. He was born on November 2, 1946, in Dayton.
Larry graduated from Fairborn High School in 1965 and attended Sinclair Community College. He built a long and steady career marked by dedication and skill. After working as a boiler operator for 32 years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, he took an early retirement and went on to work 10 more years at Nestle in Marysville where he earned his First Class Stationary Engineer License and Universal Refrigeration and RETA refrigeration certifications.
He lived a life of service, involvement, and deep commitment to the people and causes he cared about. Larry was a member of the Mad River Lodge #243 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and volunteered in a variety of roles supporting his children in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and as a volunteer for the Fairborn High School Marching Band. Later he volunteered with Cancer Companions, spurred by his first grandchild being diagnosed with brain cancer in 1999. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and O.S.U. sports.
Among the accomplishments that brought him special pride was project Living Legacy, where he forged a multi-year partnership between the Odd Fellows, Boy Scouts, and City of Fairborn officials to plant 118 trees over 2 miles along the Kauffman Avenue bikeway in Fairborn, OH, creating a lasting tribute that would benefit the community for many years to come.
Larry is survived by his wife of over 27 years, Pamela Lynn (Russell-Paver) Marshall. He also leaves his daughter, Michelle (Bob) Duncan, and his son, Larry “Wayne” (Amanda) Marshall, Jr.; his stepson, Steve (Jolene) Paver; and his grandchildren, Levi, Luke (Katrina), Lemuel (Esther), Leonard, Lilly, Linda, Lorelai, Larry and Leah Duncan, Reed and Parker Marshall, and Jacob and Molly Paver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thornton Edward and Novella Blanche (Poe) Marshall.
Services to celebrate Larry's life will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel, 621 W. 5th St. Marysville. Pastor Donna Montgomery will officiate, and burial will follow at the York Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, beginning at 12:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
