Lurene Brown

Lurene Anna Mary Brown, 96, of Marysville, died peacefully Saturday morning, August 5, 2017 at home on the farm with her loving children by her side. Lurene spent her entire life on a farm, she was born on a farm, was raised on a farm, married a farmer, raised her children on a farm and fittingly, died on a farm. Over the years, she loved driving the tractor and enjoyed bottle feeding the lambs and tending to the garden. A woman of strong faith, Lurene was raised in the St. John's Lutheran Church where she was baptized on July 24, 1921 by Reverend H.C. Keuckle and confirmed on April 14, 1935 by Reverend August Gerken. She then became a faithful member of the First English Lutheran Church of Marysville where she was the eldest disciple. She was a 1939 graduate of New California High School. Born July 12, 1921 on a farm in Plain City, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Winna (Rausch) Geer. On August 20, 1944 at St. John's Lutheran Church, she married Luther Brown and he preceded her in death on January 25, 1993. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Phyllis Geer. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lois and David Brown of Marysville; her faithful companion, Queenie; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and her church family. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the First English Lutheran Church of Marysville. Reverend Tonya Brittain will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery next to her husband. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel.
