Martha M. Miller, 96, of East Liberty, a devoted wife and loving homemaker, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the OhioHealth Hospice House (formerly the Kobacher House), surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 29, 1929, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, Martha lived a life marked by dedication, love, and an enduring commitment to her family and community.
Martha was the proud former owner and operator of the Pump House Restaurant in East Liberty, where she showcased her culinary talents and entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, she contributed her expertise to various other restaurants, earning respect and admiration for her hard work and passion for cooking. Known especially for her exceptional pies, Martha’s kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort. Beyond her culinary pursuits, she enjoyed sewing, was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, and delighted in watching Ohio State Basketball as well as the Game Show Network.
Her devotion extended beyond the home to her church community. Martha was a faithful member of the East Liberty Church of Christ, where she served with dedication on the Missionary Committee, supporting the church’s mission and outreach efforts.
Martha’s family was the cornerstone of her life. She took great pride in being a wonderful homemaker and caring for her loved ones with unwavering devotion. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Joyce Hurtt of Marion, Bev Postell of Cape Coral, FL, Celeste Clifton of North Ft. Myers, FL, Crystal Miller of East Libert, and Penny Snyder of Zanesfield; her sons, Walter Miller of East Liberty, Jeff Miller of Bellefontaine, Dave (Jamie) Miller of Bellefontaine, and Kevin Miller of East Liberty. She was also a beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to numerous grandchildren who brought joy to her life.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Arliss Miller, whom she married September 1, 1945, in Covington, KY; her daughter, Shirley Hurtt; her son, Everrett Miller; her parents Hartwell and Genevieve (Painter) Reames; her brothers, Robert, Joseph, and David Reames; grandsons, Jarod Hurtt, Bryant Miller, and Shane Short; a great-grandson, Timothy Miller; and sons-in-law, Bill Hurtt, Jim Hurtt, Dick Postell, and John Clifton.
Services to celebrate Martha's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the East Liberty Church of Christ 9504 Foundry St. East Liberty. Dr. Jason Robson will officiate, and burial will follow at the East Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday at the church, beginning at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the OhioHealth Hospice House 800 McConnell Dr. Columbus, OH 43214.
