Mary E. McNeal

Mary E. McNeal, 88, of Marysville, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a respected community member, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at The Gables of Marysville. Born on July 6, 1937, in Delaware County, Mary embraced a life marked by dedication, warmth, and service to those around her.

A 1955 graduate of Byhalia High School, Mary’s commitment to her work and community was evident throughout her life. She served as Deputy Clerk with the Union County Common Pleas Court for 21 years, a position through which she demonstrated unwavering professionalism and care.

Beyond her career, Mary found great joy and purpose in her volunteer work, notably as a member of the Windsor and Community Seniors and as a volunteer with the Union County Senior Activity Center. These roles allowed her to enrich the lives of many and cultivate enduring friendships.

Mary’s personality shone brightest in her roles within her family. She cherished spending time with her loved ones and was admired for her nurturing spirit. As a proud member of the Happy, Happy Hookers quilting group, she was passionate about quilting, crocheting, and reading—pursuits that reflected her artistic nature and love for lifelong learning. Mary also enjoyed being a “snowbird,” having spent 15 winters in Florida, embracing the change of seasons with enthusiasm and grace.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Johnson and Diane Morrison, both of Marysville; grandsons, Zach (Tina) Morrison of Phoenix, AZ and Max Morrison of Marysville; sisters, Susie (Bill) Bumgarner, Shirley Armstrong, Sally Mills, Patricia Walter, and Peggy Eastman; and a brother, Ronald (Lavone) Eastman; a sister-in-law, Betty (McNeal) Scheeter; special niece and nephew, Patti Bach and Charlie McNeal; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Harold N. McNeal, whom she married on April 27, 1956, in Indiana; her parents, Mitchell and Mabel (Rockhold) Eastman; a daughter, Linda Lou McNeal; and her sisters, Daisy Tevis and Betty Rea.
