Melissa Shannonhouse

Melissa M. Shannonhouse, 51, of Marysville, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus from COVID-19.
Born March 3, 1969 in Charleston, WV, she was the daughter of Tommy and Wilda (Ball) Harris. She was preceded in death by her father along with an infant daughter, Reganne.
"Heroes don't always wear capes!" This could not be more fitting for Melissa. She put her heart and soul into her career and that kind, compassionate, caregiving nature carried over into every aspect of her life. When a friend of family member was in need, Melissa was there to take care of them, or just be by their side to comfort them. When she did let Jim talk her into a little time for herself, she enjoyed get togethers with friends, playing bunko, playing cards, especially euchre and pinochle and formerly loved working with horses. She also attended Marysville Christian Church.
A 1987 graduate of Huntington High School, she worked for nearly 30 years as a nurse and also served as an assistant director and director of nursing. Over the years, she worked at Sunrise Assisted Living, Forest Hills Nursing Center, Wesley Glen Skilled Rehab, Carriage Court of Marysville, Our Family Home Assisted Living and was currently with First and Main Assisted Living in Lewis Center.
On May 2, 1992 in Huntington, WV, she married her loving husband of over 28 years, Jim Shannonhouse and he survives in Marysville. She is also survived by her mother, Wilda Harris of South Point; a son, Shane Shannonhouse of Marysville; a sister, Sheila (Harris) Lusk of Huntington, WV; her fur babies, Bucky, Apollo and Tasha along with numerous other extended family and friends.
Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Friday, December 11, 2020 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel where a memorial service will follow at 7:00 P.M. Toby Conrad and Robbie Manypenny will officiate and burial will be held at a later date. Masks will be required and distancing will be encouraged at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Melissa to the Memory Care Unit at First and Main in Lewis Center or the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
