Paul G. Barnes

November 27, 1935 — March 17, 2023

Marysville

Paul Gordon Barnes, 87, was born in Marysville to the late Malcolm and Marjorie (Laird) Barnes on November 27, 1935, and died on March 17, 2023 at Bluebird Retirement Community.  As a child, Paul loved to visit his grandparents’ farm near Raymond, where he helped his grandfather with haying and learned to bake and cook from his grandmother.  When Paul was in grade school, the family moved to Columbus. He graduated from Central High School, served in the National Guard of Ohio, attended classes at OSU, and volunteered many hours in the emergency room at Children’s Hospital. He moved back to Marysville to raise his family. Paul retired as Plant Manager for Architectural Precast, a precast concrete company in Columbus. He had several postretirement jobs, operating a Maytag appliance store in Marysville for 4 years, and driving all over central Ohio as a customer service representative for LabCorp. Paul loved cooking and baking, gardening, antiquing, vacationing in Ft. Myers Beach, FL, and, especially, grocery shopping for bargains. He made friends wherever he went. People were drawn to his kind, gentle ways, low-key sense of humor, quiet compassion, and the unconditional love he gave, especially to family, friends, and the many kitties who shared his life over the years. Paul would help anyone in need, fix anything that was broken, and soothe anyone who was hurting, even from a cut finger. His memory will always be cherished by his loving wife Judy, who he married May 29, 1993; by his son, Blair and wife Belinda of Portland, OR, and his daughters Belinda and husband Tim of Westerville, and Bethany and husband Monte of Fort Wayne IN; by his stepdaughter Jennifer and husband Mike of Gahanna; by grandchildren Marley, Chase, Bram, and Siena and by step-grandchildren Effie and Dean; by brother David and wife Joan of Dublin, nephews Jeff and Kevin and their families also of Dublin, and by other family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be announced. Contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org. The family would like to thank the staff of Bluebird and Promedica hospice for their loving care. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.wilsonfuneralhomesinc.com
