Ray E. Baker, 91, of Milford Center, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2023 following a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Union County, he served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He retired from International Harvester, now Navistar in Springfield where he worked in harnessing for 30 years. He loved hunting, spending time outdoors, going to auctions, flea markets, steam shows and auctions and going out to eat, especially for fast food.
Born March 25, 1932 in Madison County, he was the son of the late George and Elva (Evilsizor) Baker. On June 25, 1955 in Bellefontaine, he married his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Ruth Ann (Stokes) Baker and she preceded him in death on February 14, 2020. He was also preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.
Ray is survived by his children, Tony Baker of Milford Center and Debra Everett of North Lewisburg; grandsons, Jaye and Kelly; and his great grandchildren, Oren, Alex and Amelia.
In keeping with Ray’s wishes, no calling hours will be held. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 9, 2023 in the Middleburg Cemetery with Pastor Donna Montgomery officiating. Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Union County Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled for the family by Wilson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Military Family Support Group P.O.
