Rickie Lynn Hutchins of West Mansfield passed peacefully just as the full moon rose on August 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 13, 1954, to the late Oral and Rachel (Holycross) Hutchins in West Mansfield, where he spent his life.
Hutch graduated from Benjamin Logan High School in 1973 and played on the WCOC Championship teams in 1972 & 1973. He was proud to be present at his team's induction into the Benjamin Logan Athletic Hall of Fame this past January.
A hard worker, Rick worked for Jollif's, Ohio Ready Mix, and retired from Reliant Mechanical. An avid nature lover, he was often found in the woods hunting or on the lake fishing, and always ready to tell you the story of how he was the best at it. He was an old hippie and true outdoorsman, living life to its fullest with a smile on his face and a CowTale in his pocket, ready to give to the kids.
Hutch is survived by his pride and joy, his daughter, Cylie and Adam Whitt of West Mansfield; his grandsons, Connor and Ashton Whitt, Kyle Jones, and Cameron Shirk; a granddaughter, Ava Mae Whitt; his sister, Sue Slusher of Salyersville, KY; his best friend of over 66 years, Roger Pugh of West Mansfield; along with many nieces, nephews, and buddies.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Dolores “Sammy” Pettit, who raised him as their own, and his siblings, Lloyd Jr. Grubbs, Sharon Pettit, and Joann Crabtree.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel 222 W. Center St. West Mansfield. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 P.M. Casual dress is requested, and bib overalls are encouraged.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Benjamin Logan Athletic Booster Club, Attn: Football Program. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wilsonfuneralhomesinc.com
