Ruth Baker

Ruth Ann (Stokes) Baker, 86, of Milford Center, died Friday, February 14, 2020 at Memorial Hospital of Union County with loving family by her side.
A 1952 graduate of Perry-Zane High School, she graduated as Valedictorian of her class.
A devoted wife and loving homemaker, she was a member of the Middleburg Alumni, the Perry-Zane Alumni, the Rebecca Lodge and attended the Irwin United Methodist Church.
An avid sports fan, she loved playing competitive sports in her younger years. She liked to play croquet, enjoyed fishing, sudoko puzzles, watching sports on TV, especially the Cleveland Browns, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Tom Brady. She also loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. An excellent cook and an accomplished seamstress, she also enjoyed collecting and had quite the collection of salt and pepper shakers and thimbles.
Born January 22, 1934 in Zane Township, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Vivian (Titus) Stokes. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Richard Carmon and brother, Dale Stokes.
On June 25, 1955 in Bellefontaine, she married her husband of nearly 65 years, Ray Baker and he survives in Milford Center. She is also survived by her children, Tony Baker of Milford Center and Debbie Baker Everett of North Lewisburg; grandsons, Jaye and Kelly; great grandsons, Oren and Alex; sisters, Eileen (Stokes) Lee of Bellefontaine and Norma (Stokes) Baker of Irwin and a sister-in-law, Beulah (Dwight) Thompson of Ostrander.
In keeping with Ruth's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Middleburg Cemetery with Pastor Sara McSwords officiating. A celebration of life service is being planned for a later date at the Irwin United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel.
