Ruth Dorothea Schroer, 91, of Marysville died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Carriage Court with her sons at her side. A minister's wife, she was a retired elementary school teacher having taught five years with Hardin Northern schools in Dunkirk and 14 years with Seneca East in Attica. She graduated from Milford Center High School in 1941, received a two year secretarial degree from Capital University where she met her husband, and later received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio Northern University. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and sewing, and especially treasured time spent with her family and doing the Lord's work. She was born November 6, 1923, in Amlin to the late Carl and Clara Eickemeyer Wolpert. On September 3, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Church, she was married to the Reverend Sherwood A. Schroer by Rev. August Gerken. Her husband preceded her in death on June 4, 2010. She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Schroer; two brothers, Herbert Wolpert and George Wolpert; son in law, Toby Armellini and brother in law, Lester Wolff. Surviving are her children, Dr. Robert (Lyla Rice) Schroer, Miami, FL; Thomas Schroer and his fiancé, Dr. Rebecca Hawkins, Phoenix, AZ; Sylvia Armellini, Tulsa, OK; and Roger (Kay) Schroer, East Liberty; a daughter-in-law, Claudia Hoover, Tiffin; 7 grandchildren: Dr. Brian (Dr. Corinne) Schroer, Patrick (Andrea) Schroer, Tampa, FL, Casey Schroer, Jessica (Clifton) Janney, Andrea (Steve) Whalen, Nicole (Chris) Wright, and Sarah Bickford; 7 great-grandchildren, Garrett & Brandon , Rose & Kam, Ethan & Evan and Caleb, Abigail and Jude; three sisters, Martha Wolff, Milford Center; and Lois (Herbert) Nicol and Esther Carmany, each of Marysville; two brothers, Bernard Wolpert and Walter (Phyllis) Wolpert, each of Marysville; many nieces and nephews; and her church family. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church 313 E. 6th St. Marysville,OH. Reverend Barry Scott will officiate and burial will take place at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Mannasmith Funeral Home 621 W. 5th St. Marysville, OH and from 10-11 A.M. Thursday at the church.
