Valerie Gatliff

December 3, 1963 — January 1, 2022

Valerie H. Gatliff, 58, of Marysville, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the OSU Medical Center following an extended illness.

A loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, she loved spending time with her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren. Still a “kid” at heart herself, Val was quite the prankster. She loved to make people laugh and had a nickname for all of her loved ones. With her sense of humor and love for a good, cold beer, she was a natural when entertaining people with her funny beer quotes. She had a gift of creativity which showed in her numerous crafting projects. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and bird watching. Having a love for animals, stray cats always found a home if they came to Val's house. She formerly worked at Duke’s Insurance Agency and also several years at Goodies Galore.

Born December 3, 1963 in Dayton, she was the daughter of Gary Gatliff and Wanda (Poe) Engle. Her father preceded her in death along with the love of her life, Doug Cremeans who passed April 2, 2019. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary James Gatliff and her grandparents, Cecil and Frances “Granny Franny” Poe.

She is survived by her mother, Wanda Engle of Marysville; daughters, Jerrica (Brandon Parker) Newhart of Marysville, Constance (Kyle Pierle) Potter of Indianapolis and Hannah (Doug Shaffer) Potter of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Aidan Newhart, Kyrah, Kailynn and Kyson Pierle and Gunner Shaffer; sisters, Kelly (Joseph “Cat” Miller) Schroll, Tammy Gatliff and Phyllis “Tater” Gatliff all of Dayton; her brother, Gilbert Engle of Dayton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 P.M. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. A Celebration of Life service is being planned by the family and will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wilsonfuneralhomesinc.com
