Wandell Vinson

Wandell Jay Vinson, 89, formerly of Marysville and currently of Crystal River, FL, where he has resided for the past 33 years, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 at Madison County Hospital in London following a brief illness.

Born May 7, 1932 in Kentucky, he was the son of the late Jay and Mary (Adams) Vinson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Vinson; a daughter, Ronnie L. Vinson; a grandson, Michael Shane Erwin; and his brothers, Jerry Marcum, Donald Vinson and Paul Vinson.

A loving father, grandfather and uncle, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the beaches in Florida, and always made time to take any family for a beach day that were down for a visit. He also enjoyed learning about the history of wars and trains. He cared for his 18 beloved cats just like they were his family.

A graduate of Woodstock High School, he began working for the National Guard in Marysville as a mechanic at the age of 17. He was later transferred to the White Hall Armory in Columbus from which he retired.

He leaves behind his daughter, Wandella Vinson of Marysville; grandsons, Shad A. (Annie) Ervin, Shanon J. (Shauna) Ervin and Shaun L. (Lacey) Ervin; 15 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In keeping with Wandell’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be held. Burial will take place beside his wife Linda at the Oakdale Cemetery at a later date.
